Ruin: The Infernis Duology

Oralia Solis hasn’t felt the touch of another in 245 years. Not without them crumbling to ash at her feet. Cursed by the bite of a daemoni, she has been sequestered away for the greater good of Aethera by her adopted father, King Typhon.

King Renwick rules the rival kingdom of Infernis, the land of the dead. When Oralia flees the palace of Aethera after her power is let loose with deadly results, he recognizes her potential as a weapon and aids her escape.

Oralia finds herself the prisoner of the man she has been taught to fear most, and Renwick is surprised to find there is more to this princess than her untamed powers. Despite the gulf of secrets and magic between them, Renwick can’t deny the pull he feels towards her, and Oralia struggles to resist the one person who cannot only survive her touch, but craves it.

As Oralia uncovers the truth of her parentage and masters her magic, she will discover that the power to raze or save either Aethera or Infernis lies in her hands. War between the two kingdoms looms and she must decide who she can trust and which she wants more: power or love.

Ruin is a captivating romantasy that masterfully blends steamy tension with breathtaking world-building. The enemies-to-lovers trope is perfectly executed with a delicious slow burn that keeps you on the edge of your seat, making every interaction between Ren and Oralia sizzle with anticipation…a must-read that will leave you bewitched and eager to read the next book.”

About the Author

Gillian Eliza West, debut author of Ruin: The Infernis Duology, lives in Austin, Texas. With a passion for mythology that has taken her around the world (despite her fear of flying), she strives to infuse her own stories with a similar kind of wonder and magic. Her first foray into writing for an audience came through fan fiction, allowing her to hone her skills as a storyteller. When she isn’t working on her debut duology, you can find Gillian snuggled up with her dog, Walter, and a book or her favorite fanfic.

What readers are saying about Ruin

  • “Oralia and Ren are my new Feyre and Rhys. I am that level of in love with this world, story, and characters that Gillian has created. The world is interesting, but not overly complex. Her writing is lyrical and romantic, but not overly flowery. The characters are multifaceted and endearing, but not perfect. In short, Gillian has created a world that I didn’t want to leave and cannot wait to return to. Ruin has easily risen to my top five (if not the top!) reads of the year.”

    Jordan @abluenest

  • "Ruin is like Beauty & the Beast meets Hades and Persephone. There is a beautiful darkness about the story that pairs perfectly with its endearing charm. I am blown away by the depth of Gillian’s writing — her immersive world and heartfelt characters had me emotionally invested from page one. "

  • This book gives the perfect dark fantasy vibes. I instantly fell in love with Renwick & Oralia. This is the perfect slow burn romantasy. I absolutely devoured this book. I love that it is a dual POV because every single time it changed to Renwick and we unraveled his character more it was perfection (swoons). A God of death & darkness (I mean what else could a girl ask for!) This book is absolutely beautiful and I am so excited to watch the story continue to unfold in book 2.

“Not for the first time I wondered what it meant: that darkness and death lived inside of me as surely as light and prosperity did.”
